‘Ni Nachleh’ over 1.5 million hits on Youtube.
With a huge smash hit under his belt, the Punjabi pop sensation Imran Khan, is today on the path to a long term career. The single ‘Ni Nachleh’ was released to see how the industry appreciated Imran Khans style of music. Not only was it well received, it went on to become a global smash hit and took Imran and his label forward. Birmingham's newest Asian radio station has begun testing ahead of its launch next month.
Ambur Radio, which will primarily target Asians living in the Walsall area, is currently playing looped music on 103.6FM.
Ambur Radio's description as provided to media regulator Ofcom is, "A community station for Walsall. It will be focused on the Asian communities but it will also provide some programming for the whole community, including other minority ethnic groups."
Ambur Radio has been awarded a five-year licence to broadcast in Walsall - and within a ten-mile radius of the town.
The station will be managed by Priya Singh, who herself is a prominent media personality in the West Midlands area. Prior to setting up Ambur Radio, Singh worked at Radio XL from start and then followed that with the launch of her own digital station Apna Radio.
Ambur Radio launches fully in early July.
This will be the second community Asian radio station in Birmingham. Months earlier Punjabi offering Raaj FM launched in the Sandwell region on 91.3FM. Both will no doubt give old timer Radio XL a run for its money, which has had monopoly in the city since its inception in 1995.

ORGANISATIONS are being urged to participate in the largest celebration of British Asian culture the country has ever seen – and bagging themselves an award at the same time.
British Asian Hafta (week), which promises to showcase the achievements of the country’s Asian community, is proud to announce an evening of glitz; glamour and entertainment to kick start the week-long celebrations – between October 27 and November 9.
The evening of awards, to take place on October 28, will provide the opportunity for the cream of the British Asian business community to be rewarded for their hard work and commitment over the year.
Among the six awards up for grabs are Most Diverse Company; Male and Female Category for Best Employee; Male and Female Category for Best Employer; and the Pioneer Award.
British Asian Hafta has been launched under Women of Cultures whose core aim is to empower women of minority communities, giving leadership skills along with direction to overcome any issues, concerns or problems they may face both in their professional and personal lives.
Ultimately Women of Cultures aims to direct these women in becoming model citizens of Britain.
CEO for WoC, Gurjeet Bains, said: “Last year’s British Asian Week enjoyed immense success and we wanted this year to be even more reflective of the celebration of Asian roots – hence the revamp from week to hafta.
“Asians continue to have successes in many fields yet there are still barriers faced by the community - British Asian Hafta is an initiative which looks to ease such obstacles.
“I am looking forward to participation from all communities and hoping to make this year’s celebrations even bigger and better than last year.”
The premise of the initiative is to showcase and celebrate the achievements of the community through a series of events taking place within a fortnight.
These events can be run by individuals wishing to showcase their success stories and or organisations wanting to demonstrate their commitment to the British Asian Community.
However, the idea is that throughout the year organisations and communities will be working towards the fortnight and the fortnight will be a commemoration of the annual efforts.
The hafta is a unique opportunity born out of last years’ British Asian Week, hoping to now reflect more closely the needs and ambitions of the community it represents.
Note to Editors:
1. The strategic aims of British Asian Hafta fit into the core values as outlined by Women of Cultures of empowerment, recognition and education as some of the core principles. British Asian Hafta is about celebrating all the above and providing a platform for the community for wider recognition.
2. The project aims to provide British Asians with their equivalent of Black History Month.
3. Organisations and individuals are being asked to make their nominations for the various category awards as soon as possible.
4. For further information please contact Women of Cultures on 0845 450 7104. more»
Jeet Bhogal
Jeet Bhogal - born and raised in Birmingham , Handsworth the heart of the current Bhangra Industry. Jeet Bhogal (JB) Gifted in the art of Music has dedicated his time to producing and playing Music that impacts the soul.
Jeet is no new comer to the Bhangra Industry. He has a renowned reputation and is known as an all round musician, music producer and all star studio session man who now steps into the solo limelight as the premier singer, Music producer, Pianist (Keyboards) and a true performer in his much anticipated debut album.
From the tender age of 6 years, Jeet Bhogal was engrossed in the essence of music. Listening and learning classical music which was Jeet’s starting point to his musical career. Over the years his skills developed to a stage were you could literally give him any musical instrument and in a matter of minutes he would bring the instrument to life (no joke even if it is broken).
Having learnt traditional music laid down the solid foundation that later would bring him in to contact with some of the most renowned profiles of the current Bhangra industry.
Having played live with bands most of his Music career meant that Jeet was able to grasp the concept of live music in collaboration with the dance floor and what works both on and off stage. Performing to a live audience across the globe and being able to influence the dance floor shows the adaptability and flexible nature of his music.
Jeet has performed as a musician with the likes of DCS, Malkit Singh, Safri Boys, AS Kang, Pardesi Music Machine, Avtar Maniac, Sat-rang, Silinder Pardesi and more often with Harbhajan Talwar and many more…..
Many people will remember Jeet as the Lead Keyboardist for the Original XLNC band which had much success during the 90’s. Jeet was the music mind behind the huge album titled Kangana, out of which he produced one of the nations favourite love songs – “Pichely Junam di”. He was also the man behind Harbhanjan Talwar’s “Ranjana” album and very recently produced the track “Unbreakable Love” on the “Pasand” album. However, this doesn't even come close to what JB is capable of.
JB has now completed the ultimate 13 track album which will blow your mind away. We at VIP can only say that it will be one of the best sounding albums of 2007. It will be due for release during June 2007 on VIP records. A taster of his album can be heard on Pure Desi 2 which will feature the acoustic version of the track “Ek Tara” demonstrating the piano playing skills of this talented young man!

After Gupsy Aujla’s breathtaking debut album ‘Out of Nowhere’, we are proud to announce his second album entitled ‘AfterShock’. It has taken nearly 2 years but after listening to this stunning 11 track album I’m sure everyone will agree it’s been well worth the wait.
The album features many of the singers from Gupsy’s debut album, including: Bhagwant Pawar with the song ‘Dil Chaiyda’, destined to become one of this summers biggest Bhangra anthems, the well known singer Angrez Ali, Jaswinder Patti and Goga Takhar – singer of the hit drum & bass track ‘Karpana’, which we are very proud to announce reached number 1 on the Bobby & Nihal show on Radio 1.
